Governor Doug Burgum appointed Bryan Klipfel as Executive Director of Job Service North Dakota in late 2018.
Bryan led North Dakota Workforce Safety & Insurance (WSI) for nearly ten years before taking on the dual role of leading both organizations. Prior to being appointed Director of WSI by Governor John Hoeven in March 2009, Bryan had a remarkable 30-year career with the North Dakota Highway Patrol. He retired as Superintendent of the State Patrol. Upon his retirement in August 2007, Bryan accepted a position with Job Service North Dakota as a member of Job Service’s Industry Liaison Team and later was promoted to Human Resources Manager. He held that position until being appointed the Director of Workforce Safety & Insurance. Bryan retained his appointment under the Governor Dalrymple administration and more recently under the current Governor Burgum administration.
Throughout his career, Bryan has truly exemplified leadership skills. These skills, coupled with his diverse background in North Dakota, and working with diverse state interests has made him a natural pick for the position. Under his leadership, WSI has moved forward with a strategic journey (plan) that has created an environment of exceptional employees, exceptional service, and financial stability.
Bryan currently serves on the Board of Directors for the American Association of State Compensation Insurance Funds (AASCIF).
Bryan also serves on the Bismarck YMCA Board of Directors, Missouri Valley United Way Board of Directors, and several committees at Faith Lutheran Church.
