The Field Auditor position is responsible for the day-to-day administration of field activities to ensure compliance with the tax provisions of the ND Unemployment Compensation Insurance law.This role involves advising employers on Unemployment Insurance requirements, assisting with completion and submission of various reports and applications, serving as a consultant, providing education/presentations, conducting audits, obtaining delinquent tax reports, and investigating potential fraud cases including conducting fact-finding (via telephone, in writing, and in person) to verify and/or obtain information as necessary. The Field Auditor serves as a point of contact for the online employer self-service database.Travel is occasionally required to the Williston area and may require an overnight stay.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must have the following experience/education combination:a bachelor's degree plus at least two (2) years of professional experience providing auditing, accounting/bookkeeping, making determinations, fact finding, and/or application of federal or state guidelines to accomplish objectives of a major programOR at least six (6) years of professional experience providing auditing, accounting/bookkeeping, making determinations, fact finding, and/or application of federal or state guidelines to accomplish objectives of a major program

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will be able to articulate their expertise in payroll management and/or auditing, will have strong analytical capabilities, meticulous attention to detail, a thorough understanding of regulatory frameworks, effective communication, problem-solving proficiency, technical prowess in relevant software, and a commitment to ethical conduct. The preferred candidate will demonstrate the ability to examine financial records, identify discrepancies, ensure compliance with regulations, and recommend corrective actions where necessary, thereby safeguarding the financial integrity of the agency.
