Monday, November 14 marked the first day of the second annual National Apprenticeship Week (NAW), which continues through Sunday. Job Service North Dakota (Job Service), North Dakota Department of Career Technical and Education (CTE), North Dakota Department of Commerce and the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship are working together to promote apprenticeship programs in the state and the important role they play in continuing to expand the skill sets of North Dakota’s workforce.
Last week, Gov. Jack Dalrymple signed the Registered Apprenticeship Awareness Month proclamation which recognizes the integral role that apprenticeships play in North Dakota’s workforce. The proclamation can be found at https://www.governor.nd.gov/media-center/proclamation/registered-apprenticeship-awareness-month.
Common benefits of participating in a registered apprenticeship are: experienced based learning under the guidance of qualified personnel, training and certifications that meet industry standards, and the opportunity to receive college credits.
Businesses that offer registered apprenticeship programs are able to remain competitive by having an increased amount of skilled workers who have occupation-specific education and training.
Apprenticeship opportunities are available across the state and can be found on Job Service’s website, www.jobsnd.com under the Individuals section.
