IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR HIRING VETERANS
The Vow to Hire Heroes Act of 2011 has increased some WOTC tax incentives for hiring veterans and has authorized state workforce agencies to process the Veteran and Unemployed Veteran target groups that have hire dates of November 22, 2011 through December 31, 2012.
For all other target groups, the WOTC Program remains expired as of December 31, 2011. State workforce agencies have been instructed by the U.S. Department of Labor to hold all applications (8850/9061 forms) for processing until WOTC is reauthorized. It is important that employers continue to submit WOTC applications for all target groups and adhere to the 28-day timely filing requirement.
The Disconnected Youth target group applications with a hire date in 2011 remain on hold pending further guidance from the U.S. Department of Labor.
