Information for Furloughed Federal Workers

If you are a federal employee, your wages are not on file and Job Service North Dakota (JSND) will need to request your wage information from the federal government after you file a claim.

If federal employment has been your only employment from October 1, 2017 to September 30th, 2018 the first monetary determination you receive will not list any wages, once we receive your wage information an updated monetary determination (re-determination) will be sent to you.

Please do not send in your paystubs or request a monetary redetermination upon receipt of your first monetary determination.  If JSND needs additional documentation from you, we will contact you.

The act of filing a claim itself does not result in benefit payments. You must complete your weekly certifications and any other claim requirements to receive unemployment benefits once your wage information has been received.  It can take up to three weeks for JSND to receive your wage information.

You will receive your benefits on a prepaid debit card if you do not change your payment method to direct deposit.  The debit card will be mailed once you are issued your first payment and will take 7-10 days to be received in the mail.

Please note that the first compensable week of your claim benefit year is a non-paid waiting week.  All unemployment recipients in North Dakota are required to serve a waiting week which is the first week certified where all eligibility requirements have been met.
